Drago Novelty Art is the creation of Ray Hutchings. Ray was born in San Mateo, California at Mills Memorial Hospital in January 11, 1933. Ray's parents moved to San Francisco when his father was transferred as an executive with Pacific Bell. Ray had two brothers and a sister. His brothers were 20 and 17 years older than he and his sister was 13 years older. Ray's school years were spent mostly away from home in private military academies due to the age difference of his siblings. During that time Ray learned to fly at the age of sixteen. This made Ray very independent. Ray was too young for military service in world war II but answered the call of patriotic duty in the Korean War. He served in the military from 1950 to 1955. Ray completed University after his service and then pursued his career as a biochemist and contributed to dietary protocals for astronauts. He also worked in cancer research at SRI in Palo Alto. Ray pursued many other endeavors and is currently retired and living in San Mateo. He began his drawing after an auto accident in 2002. He continues to draw and shares his works in galleries and here in his website. |
